Colorado Rocky Mountain High

George and I were on vacation in Colorado recently. After five wonderful days in Durango, we got a wild hair and decided to drive to Colorado Springs. I posted it on Facebook and one my friends commented, and suggested we to go to Manitou Springs. She added that it was at the foot of Pike's Peak and we could ride a train to the top. We love trains so as she suggested, we went to Manitou Springs, and I absolutely loved it! It's a cool, artsy, funky, little urban village, and it was quite a treat!

This shop, Safron, had a
creative little awning!
It wasn't open when I took the picture.
I didn't get the opportunity to
go back and browse either.
:(

Check out the lively
painting on this shop window.
They sell mandolins (or an
instrument that looks like a mandolin)!

A pottery making contest was
taking place under this pavilion!

Contestants were going to
town on their pottery wheels.

I don't know what kind of bike this is
but it was a lovely shade of green
and quite an attention grabber!

One of the many colorful shops!
Oh how I love color!

This little luggage vignette caught
my attention at a rest stop in Texas!

I nabbed this jar of buttons in an
antique shop in Pagosa Springs!
I love this find!
We had to head back to Texas late that afternoon, and if we wouldn't have had tickets for the train, I would have loved to hang out in Manitou Springs all day! We rode the Cog Railway to the top of Pike's Peak, and I'll be posting pics on my Smiles For Many Miles blog soon. At the moment, I'm still working on getting the Durango pics and info posted there.

Fresh Off A Colorado Rocky Mountain High!
